In Repair by Roz Preston

In Repair – Synposis

Set across the seventies, nineties, and the years just before Covid, In Repair explores the themes of love, loss, and the courage to start anew.

After her aunt’s sudden death in the Scottish Highlands, Annie MacIntosh—a dedicated lawyer working on a child abuse inquiry in London—meets Callum (Cal) Mathieson, a local boatbuilder and musician grappling with the loss of his wife while raising his teenage daughter.

A spontaneous sailing trip sparks a deep connection between Annie and Callum, but Callum’s guilt over moving on from his late wife leads him to withdraw, leaving Annie heartbroken.

Annie returns to London, immersing herself in work as a way of trying to block out her feelings.

Meanwhile, Callum, encouraged by his daughter and sister-in-law, begins to confront his grief and channels his emotions into music, recording an album for charity.

Annie sees a TV programme about his earlier career in a stadium rock band and realises her love for Callum remains strong. Meanwhile Callum finds himself increasingly thinking about Annie and their time together but remains uncertain about how to deal with those feelings.

However, a chance encounter with Callum and another woman in London leaves Annie devastated, prompting her to travel to America in search of her father—a civil rights lawyer she never knew existed.

As both Annie and Callum struggle with their feelings and the process of healing, they are faced with choices about whether to confront the past and seek a new beginning together. The story follows their journeys of self-discovery, grief, and the possibility of repair.

Will they ever be able to rediscover what they lost?
